The Drones’ seven minute blues epics may not be radio friendly, but these guys rock a live show.
Fuck the radio - The Drones are awesome.

My first skate shoot!

Actually, it was me snapping a few frames during Alex Connor’s shoot.  I was just along to interview Paul Battlay…a great young Melbourne skater.  More pics from Alex in the next Slam…

More pics here.

we's wrastlin'

On a rainy night in Brunswick, grown men and women slap each other silly on the canvas down at The Retreat Hotel. This is more fun than beer.

Check out more shots!

The Five Venoms - The Cherry Bar - March 2006

These are from a couple of weeks ago.  These guys are the funnest live band in Melbourne, despite the fact that Airbourne is opening for the Rolling Stones next week (We’ve got good seats to the Melbourne show, wait for a review here Thursday after the show), and have apparently signed a stupidly lucrative contract with Capitol records.  I mean, there’s just something innately preturnatural about a couple of slinky Chinese kids playing shred-prog rock after practicing for eight hours a day instead of going to university.

Either way, the Master of Puppets look is going to be big this winter in Melbourne, so start scouring Ebay for old white high-tops and Megadeth t-shirts early.

And look for a story on the Five Venoms in Australian Guitar in the next couple of weeks.  Gallery is here.

The Darkness - Melbourne

The Darkness played to a sold out crowd tonight.  It was a pretty intimate gig, considering these guys could easily fill stadiums back home.  Here are some pictures. - Carlisle
